Lisa & Kevin's 'best day of our lives' at Fernhill

Lisa & Kevin's 'best day of our lives' at Fernhill
The lovely Lisa and Kevin originally met back in 2009 when they were just 18 and studying Arts in University College Cork. They had made an immediate connection and had only went on a couple of dates. Kevin moved to London to pursue a Primary Teaching degree and Lisa moved to Dublin to study Public Relations & Marketing. Occasionally, they would check in with each other via social media and Lisa tells us 'it is clear they had a mutual attraction to one another and we were destined to cross paths once more.'

In 2017, Kevin moved back to Dungarvan and was teaching locally and Lisa had moved back to West Cork. Lisa was studying Primary School teaching with Hibernia College. At the end of January 2017, they connected once more. A date was arranged for Milano's in Cork. Lisa tells us 'the pizza was terrific, the company was even better! The rest they say is history!'

On Friday 20th October 2021, Kevin collected Lisa from their home in Dungarvan and told her they were going to Cork to enjoy some ''retail therapy''. Little did Lisa know what was ahead of her! Kevin parked close to the UCC grounds and insisted they head for a stroll. Outside the Boole Library (where they first met), he dropped down on one knee and asked Lisa to marry him!

Lisa & Kevin summed up their day for us here at Fernhill: 'It was the best day of our lives. We wanted our friends and family to come together and to be treated to a memorable day out, one deserving of our love for one another. Fernhill provided the perfect backdrop for our special day. It was a day filled with love, fun, laughter, top class food and wonderful music. We really wanted our love for one another to be the focal point of the day and we also wanted to celebrate our marriage in style. We are very close with our families and they were always going to be central to our day.'

Lisa told us she 'has some wonderful memories in Fernhill House. Growing up in Drinagh ( not too far from Clonakilty), Fernhill was often where we would celebrate happy occasions - family events, confirmations, birthdays. I remember fondly spending quality time with my parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins and being treated to the warmest of welcomes and best of food. I loved playing in the grounds of Fernhill with my cousins. Coupled with that, Lisa plays in a wedding band that plays across Munster and further afield. I have been to many amazing wedding venues in the country, but there is nowhere like Fernhill! Kevin also has a connection to Fernhill as his grandad Dick often spent a day on the pitch and putt course that used to occupy the gardens of Fernhill. When we came and visited Fernhill as a prospective wedding venue, we took one look out into the beautiful gardens and that was it!'

Lisa & Kevin wanted to share some advice to any future couples planning their day: ' Don't worry or stress about anything at all! Ann and her team are outstanding in all that they do - we were treated to a five-star experience from the moment we first made contact with Fernhill.'

Lisa & Kevin jetted off on honeymoon 3 days after their wedding to Las Vegas, Hawaii & Los Angeles, which they highly recommend, 'it was so lovely to go away on our honeymoon and reflect on the best day of our lives.'
