This lovely Maeve & Darren first met when they were on a backpackers trip to Fraser Island in Queensland. They were both living in Western Australia at the time but had yet to cross paths. Maeve tells us, 'it took us going to the other side of the country to meet!'
Maeve & Darren were going for lunch at Mandoon Estate which is a beautiful little winery in the Swan Valley prior to an obstetric appointment as Maeve was pregnant with their daughter at the time when Darren surprised her by dropping to one knee while they were enjoying a walk around the grounds to 'pop the question.' - Sounds magical!
Maeve & Darren wanted a laid back summer wedding and were blessed with the weather, they enjoyed a gorgeous ceremony in the Fernhill gardens, followed by a drinks reception in the garden marquee where they could enjoy time with their guests in the sunshine. Maeve is originally from Limerick & Darren is from Rochestown, and decided it was easier to plan their wedding in Cork so it would be easier for their guests who were travelling.
On top of Maeve & Darren's wedding priority list was making sure that their ceremony, drinks reception and wedding banquet meal was all in the same place and that their guests had good food and wine.
'As we were organising the wedding from Australia, it was important that we had someone that was easy to deal with via email. Ann made this very easy for us right from the beginning. Availability and great pricing were other contributing factors.'
Our advice to other couples planning their day is 'if you get a date - take it! It will not disappoint. Put your faith in Ann & all the staff at Fernhill'.
Maeve & Darren celebrated their wedding with a honeymoon in Lisbon - sounds fabulous!
