Real West Cork Wedding Feature - Erin & Mark - Childhood Sweethearts

Real West Cork Wedding Feature - Erin & Mark - Childhood Sweethearts

When we heard Erin & Mark met in Ashton school when they were 14 we knew this was going to be a very sweet love story! The couple were together since they were 16 years old, cue tears…

Erin shared how Mark had a business trip near New York and she had decided to fly out and make a trip of it together. After Erin had arrived, they had gone for dinner and a sunset walk along the High Line where she found Mark down on one knee – how romantic!

It was important to Erin & Mark to have everything in one place on their big day & a garden setting was very important to Erin who wanted a 'Summer garden wedding' and 'loads of flowers'. Erin said the gardens were what made Fernhill 'the one for them'. 'It was great to also have the back - up options of having the ceremony outside if the weather was up to scratch! The garden is so fabulous. We took all of our photos in Fernhill itself and because the garden has so many different parts to it you wouldn't know.'

In particular they wanted a relaxed vibe where they could get married in our garden marquee and have their drinks reception outside& spend as much of the day as possible with their guests as they didn’t have to move past the gardens to get their stunning photos (just take a look at them, aren’t they amazing!)

Erin & Mark flew back to do a whistle stop tour of America on honeymoon (sounds perfect!) & left future couples with these words of advice: ‘Don't sweat the small stuff, and trust in Ann and the rest of the staff! Absolutely everything was taken care of and there was nothing to worry about once the day itself came around, so there's no need to fret.’

Erin & Mark, thank you for sharing your Fernhill wedding experience, it was a pleasure to host your big day. We wish you both every happiness in your future married lives together – from all of the O’Neill family & team at Fernhill.
