KILLARNEY NIGHT OUT TO WEDDING BELLS IN CLONAKILTY - MARY & EAMONN'S FERNHILL WEDDING

KILLARNEY NIGHT OUT TO WEDDING BELLS IN CLONAKILTY - MARY & EAMONN'S FERNHILL WEDDING
'We both laugh at this' - What a way to start a conversation about how a couple met! The lovely Mary & Eamonn share the story of how they met on a night out in Killarney when Eamonn was on a night out with the lads after winning the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship. Eamonn recalls going up to the bar and that's when he bumped into Mary. They swapped phone numbers and that's where it all began!

Fast forward two years to a very romantic proposal on Christmas eve, in front of the Christmas tree with Mary's daughter Caitlin. Mary said 'it was and will be the best Christmas present I ever got and was thrilled to say 'Yes!'.

After changing dates twice due to the pandemic, Mary & Eamonn finally got to celebrate their wedding day in July this year in the beautiful church of St Martin's in Farnivane, followed by a drinks reception and banquet meal in Fernhill. But Mary tells us there was a great buzz around their house, the atmosphere was fantastic and all the hard work paid off. 'Our main priority was making sure that we make it the best day of our lives and make it a day to remember for our guests.'

We asked the lovely couple, 'what made Fernhill 'the one'?' 'Fernhill was always the one for us, we didn't consider anywhere else. Both of us had been there together in Fernhill for other weddings and the Carbery Hunt Ball so we knew it was the one. When Neil gave us the tour of the hotel and gardens when we went to book a date, it just cemented that we were making the right decision'. Mary had the following advice to give to future couples, 'don't be afraid to ask a question. The staff in Fernhill are so helpful and nothing seems to be a problem for them. Ask them to do something and it will be done.'

Mary, Eamonn & Caitlin spent a lovely honeymoon travelling up the West of Ireland but hope to do some more travelling in the future.
